With a view to interacting with those who really wish to bring a change for betterment, the idea of this organization— ‘Miles to Go.. Educational Trust’ was conceived in March, 2009.
Through this booklet we share with you our belief that to find peace, prosperity and happiness, we don’t need to do different things, we only need to do the same things differently. ‘Just a change in attitude can do wonders’ is the essence of this endeavour.
No matter what your age or beliefs are, the journey is on and there are Miles to Go..

(The hard-copy publication started out as ‘A Journey with the Child: Let’s Walk Together’ in March, 2009. About three years later, in January, 2012, the editors thought it was time to stretch our wings and soar high. The title of the booklet was changed to ‘A Journey within Ourselves: Let’s Grow Together’. The booklet continues to be distributed for free in a hard-copy format every other month in several locations mainly across India and North America. The content is blogged on this site. If you wish to be on the mailing list to be notified of updates, please email milestogodesk@gmail.com with the words ‘Subscribe Me’ in the subject list. Feel free to leave the email blank if you’re pressed for time, though it is always nice to associate a virtual name with a virtual voice.”

Hello Basant,
I thank Nivedita for leading me to this blog.
I laud this initiative to spread positive vibes. Today, the greatest challenge I see humanity face is insecurity on physical, material and spiritual levels. Insecurity breeds selfishness and self-centredness.
Yes, we have miles to go to reverse the trend. In fact, miles have become stretched. I fondly crave that your blog will kindly hope and optimism, and people will share love and service.
Here’s a moving story I recently received through email:
A holy man was having a conversation with God one day and said, ‘ God , I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like.’ God led the holy man to two doors. He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in.
In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew, which smelled delicious and made the holy man’s mouth water.
The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished.
They were holding spoons with very long handles, that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful.
But because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.
The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering.
God said, ‘You have seen Hell.’
They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one.
There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man’s mouth water.
The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking. The holy man said, ‘I don’t understand..’
It is simple,’ said God . ‘ It requires but one skill.
You see they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.’
Remember that I will always share my spoon with you !
Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.

Congratulations on getting your article published! You have written an excellent article that should raise lots of eyebrows. Of course much of your subject was your own hard-won experience in the matter. Nevertheless, you must have done a wheelbarrow-full of research. I admire you. I guess this means we will be seeing more of you in the print media from now on. I say more power to you!
